Preserving Performance: Inspect the Wear Parts!!

Wear Parts... Every Skid Steer attachment has its ummm... "Parts" " but this is not a private bedroom topic. We are talking about WEAR parts, and they are exactly what they sound like. They are parts of an attachment that is subject to significant stress and friction during operation. Over time, these wear parts, such as bucket side cutters, bucket teeth, forks, and bolt-on blades naturally degrade. Ignoring their condition can lead to diminished performance, reduced efficiency, and even equipment damage. YIKES! Read on as to why you should not let your teeth get bent and your edge blades get dull!

  1. Maintaining Work Efficiency:  As an operator of a Skid Steer or Tractor, you understand that Wear parts play a pivotal role in the functionality of the attachment it's, well, attached to. Blades cut, teeth dig and grab, and edges level surfaces. When these parts wear down, their efficiency decreases, resulting in longer task durations and increased fuel consumption. We carry all the replacement wear parts in kit form so you can replace one or all at the same time! Psst... all at once is highly recommended. See reason #2 as to why.

  2. Prevent Costly Repairs: Replacing a worn bucket edge is far more cost-effective than repairing a damaged attachment or addressing collateral equipment issues. Our Wear bars are double-edged swords... no, they are just double-edged and can be easily unbolted, flipped around, and bolted back on. They are heavy-duty and can weigh over 100 lbs so make sure you have someone to help with this task.

  3. Enhance Operator Safety: Like it when your work day and your machine is predictable? We do too and when your wear parts are feeling a little "used", they can become a bit unpredictable and potentially hazardous. Lose parts or bent parts can't take work stress and like a Postal worker, they can SNAP! at any moment! Regular inspection and care of your attachment's wear parts ensures they function as intended and reduces the risk of on-the-job accidents.
  4. Attachment Lifespan: Attachments are an investment so why would you not care for it? Replacing wear parts at the appropriate intervals extends the overall lifespan of your attachments. We really don't know how long this will be for you because we don't know how you'll be using it, but here's a professional tip... WATCH FOR SIGNS OF WEAR! You go to the Doctor for regular checkups to make sure your body is in working order, why wouldn't you be the Doctor to your attachment? Trust me it does not take a Doctorate degree to see a tooth is bent and should be replaced. We've saved you money already!
  5. Maintain Quality Work: Tools that are cared for last for generations. Woodworkers are still using tools built by their grandfather's grandfather and sometimes function better than today's modern tools. Why would you not care for this tool in the same way? Worn-out wear parts can lead to uneven or subpar results, affecting the quality of your work. All new Raptor Attachments come with a 12-month manufacturer's limited warranty on workmanship. We stand behind the quality of our products but it's up to you to care for the parts that naturally wear out. It’s an investment in your equipment’s longevity and on your bottom line.
